JTED Admission Information for Charter School Students

For

 2007-2008

The Pima County JTED is obligated by law to serve students residing in the JTED district who are not enrolled in satellite high schools.  Charter schools are specifically mentioned in the law (A.R.S. 15-393 (G).  JTED is required by law to adopt Rules of Admission.  On May 15, 2007, the JTED Governing Board approved the following Rules of Admission:

1.                  Available space in the receiving school;

2.                  Discipline Status and record of students – subject to A.R.S. 15-841 (c);  Suspension and Expulsion of Students;

3.                  Students 21 years of age and under.

There are Arizona Department of Education JTED funded classes available at satellite high schools in the eleven districts that comprise the JTED District.  These are listed by high school on our website at:  www.pimacountyjted.orgPima Community College classes that are approved by ADE and may be offered at one of the Pima Community College locations are also listed.  These are advanced CTE classes, not introductory, so there may be some program prerequisites.  If this is the case, in order to fully take advantage of JTED classes, it will be necessary for charter schools to develop their own introductory classes.  The Pima Community College and satellite high school classes are free to high school students.  Reimbursement for tuition will be at the approved in-state tuition rate for Pima Community College.  A system for payment of the tuition will be initiated in the near future.

There are available spots in the satellite high school classes.  The contact person for each high school will be listed on the JTED website, or you may email Gerald Petersen at:  gpetersen@pimacountyjted.org.  There are no guaranteed spots for charter school students at either the satellite high schools or at Pima Community College

JTED will pay for the charter school to transport students to the JTED classes at the approved state bus mileage rates.

It is not possible at this time for JTED to pay instructors to teach state-approved CTE classes on charter high schools campuses (ARS 15.391).
